Ducati is the Volkswagen group owned Italian bike manufacturer. It manufactures superbikes. Ducati expects 100% volume growth in India in the coming 3-4 years.
Superbike manufacturer Ducati entered the Indian market in 2013. It saw a rapid increase in the Indian market. It will interduce four new models this year and a new showroom will be open in Chennai and Hyderabad.
India is a very strategic market for the brand and the company is investing here to be prepared for a take-off in the premium bike market, Ducati India managing director Sergi Canovas told to Economic Times.
The company imports some of its models from its facility in Thailand. It does not justify a local assembly facility, but options are always open, Canovas said.
The company sells its complete portfolio of 27 bikes across seven different families. It ranges from 800cc to 1.3 liters. Four new models will be available at the Indian market in 2018.
The new models are Scrambler 1100, Multistrada 1260, 2018 Monster 821 and the 959 Panigale Corse.
Canovas said its plans for the future could drive India to the top five markets for Ducati in 2-3 years.
